As the crux of our components, our material is crucial to their performance. Ever since we started production, we have been collecting and storing any piece goods and chips accumulated during cutting and subsequent processing. We then process these into semi-finished products again – in a press cycle specially adapted for this type of material. Our customers can buy these semi-finished products from us – with a clear recycled goods designation. In 2022, for example, we produced 2,000 tons of Murdotec® 1000 U from recycled material.
Closing the loop, making an impact:
Closing the loop, making a difference: Our take-back program completes the cycle of sustainable high-performance plastics. Our aim is not only to produce high-quality product but also to look far beyond the development, production and manufacturing process. Even by-products and waste, such as shavings or off-cuts, can be turned into a new semi-finished product.
As part of our Take-Back Program, all by-products and waste products are collected, stored and separated during production. This careful handling makes it possible to return these materials to the production cycle. For example, chips and piece goods can be reprocessed to produce new high-quality semi-finished products and high-performance plastics. This concept closes the loop and allows materials to be recycled instead of disposed of.
“The program isn’t just beneficial for the environment, it also offers clear benefits for our customers. When the parts they purchase reach the end of their life, we collect the waste products and replace them with new products. The old materials then go through a recycling process, which also creates a circular economy for materials for our customers. This helps to conserve resources, reduce waste and contribute to a more sustainable future.” - Felix Tilse, Managing Director
We continuously focus on reducing our waste by implementing optimized manufacturing processes and constant innovation. The use of advanced materials and technologies enables us to produce more efficiently and sustainably. We work hard to not only meet the goals of the annual audit but to exceed them.
As part of a circular economy, we collect the majority of our manufacturing and processing waste for immediate reuse. This approach allows us to further reduce not only the amount of waste but also the amount of new raw materials needed in our operational production and manufacturing processes.
Our commitment to an internal circular economy is reflected in the careful collection and separation of by-products and production waste. In this way, we create the conditions for effective recycling. We have also introduced a take-back program that allows us to collect used materials from our customers. This is then recycled into a new product, contributing to a closed-loop system and sustainable use of resources.
